Wonderland
Wonderland was an entirely original creation, drawn from the minds of the entire cast and crew. It lived for one weekend in a black box theatre for 35 audience members at a time, inviting each of them to become Alice in our own Wonderland. Like the original, the audience eventually returns to reality with only the memory of their time down the rabbit hole.

Spring 2015
Wonderland, an immersive play, was produced and performed at Brown University in February 2015.
The production process started with a cast of ten, assigned basic characters, and a setting inspired by the world of Lewis Carroll’s, Alice in Wonderland. Over the course of four weeks, the cast and crew worked together to devise everything from the plot and script to the set.
Wonderland took place in a black box theatre which both allowed and challenged us to transform the space into a functional and otherworldly space. Through improv, writing, and acting exercises, the cast and crew fully developed characters and motivations. As every character is performing at every moment, with multiple interactions happening simultaneously across the set, we came up with original ways of tracking the script and plot across the whole production.
The entire process was an exercise in ideation and adaptation. As the set took shape, we had to ideate to control for noise, as well as allow the actors to improvise and draw from their newly created homes. We then brought in test audiences to get user feedback before opening night.
Every audience member had a unique experience. One on one interactions with the actors were built into the script, ensuring an intimate anecdote for that audience member only. While Wonderland was a production of its own to start with, each audience member experienced it in an entirely different way through their own choices.
